With a suggested retail price of $129.95 JVC's JX-ED11 lies squarely in the "affordable" camp. The JX-ED11 is a "completely wireless edit controller with exclusive jog wheel scanner" that needs "absolutely no hook-up!" That pretty much tells the story; the user can sit across the room and operate both recorder and player from the JX-ED11 with no intervening wires. (Of course, the recorder and player will have to be electrically connected to the each other and to the monitor, but that should be within the expertise of the average user.) The JX-ED11 is claimed to work with most IR camcorders and VCRs. It replicates the usual transport controls (Rewind, Play, Fast Forward, Stop and Pause) of each, but its key features are its Jog Wheel Scanner and editing buttons that let the user easily hone in on the splice points.
